Last Blog from Youth Camp 08
Group Pictures added at the left (Youth Camp 08)

Wow! The last blog.  I can't believe that tomorrow we will board the bus for home.  It has been a fun exciting week.  Thanks for sharing your kids with us.  We are so fortunate to have the students we have at FBC and Seminole.  The final worship service was as good as the rest.  Afterward Jase allowed the sponsors to have the privilege of praying with our students on the beach individually.  It was an awesome experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.  See you at about 6:00 am on Saturday morning.  Please pray for a safe journey and for our students as they leave the intense time of camp and go back into the real world.

Honduras Prayer Request

The missionaries in Honduras, Billy & Mary Collins, sent us an email to please have people pray for the rain to slow down. They have been having heavy rains and for us to visit the villages, the rain needs to slow down.  They said light showers would be great!  God knows every village that we will visit. Pray that we will listen to His guidance. Thank you for your prayer support in this specific need.

This picture was taken in one of the villages when we were there in 2004.  We want to be able to travel into these villages to tell these precious children about our Lord!
Day 4 Youth Camp 08  See "Lots" of new pictures at left (Youth Camp O8)

We got up to cloudy dark skies this morning.  It was a great relief to the guys who were not looking foward to the synchronized swimming contest. There was quite a bit of thunder during the morning shout.  I think heaven was participating in the music. The guys relief was short lived. The swimming was rescheduled for afternoon. You should see how graceful your sons are. The students spent the morning playing games in the worship building. Once again we are under double red flags, so I have had to continue to drag Jase out of the ocean.  The students and Jase have been disappointed that they have not been able to get into the ocean for two days.  They are getting to play on the beach, but the life guards and staff are very careful to keep our students safe. We continue to have wonderful sessions with the speaker Dusty Thompson, from Lubbock's Redeemer church.  I think the students are getting a great deal out of the small groups.  You should be impressed with your students. I know I am.  We had another great night session on the beach.  The wind was blowing much harder last night, but wind on the beach is whole lot different from wind in West Texas (No dirt in the air, just waves crashing on the beach)

Day 3 Youth Camp 08   See new pictures at the left (Youth Camp 08)

It has been another busy day for us.  Had another really good breakfast.  Jase had grits for the first time.  We had another great Morning Shout followed by a small group time.  After that, we had recreation.  Today the small groups were learning synchronized swimming. I don't think the boys were all that impressed.  They have the competition tomorrow.  We were in for a shock when we went to the beach.  Double Red Flags were flying meaning the beach was closed.  They are apparently having a really bad undertow.  The life guard said that two people had drown east of us.  Please pray for those families.  We decided to go shopping in town since we couldn't go to the beach.  I think everyone has their souvenirs, and I hope a little money left.
Jase, Todd, and Sarah led another great church time last night on the beach.  There is just something about being on the dark beach and hearing the waves crashing on the beach during a time alone with God that really makes you feel close to Him.

Day 2 at Laguna Beach  Click on the Pictures (Youth Camp '08) at the left to see the whole album

We are getting into the routine.  I think everyone slept well last night. Got up and had a homemade breakfast this morning.  Then a quiet time on your own.  After that, had morning shout, a short worship service.  I'll bet you didn't know Jase can dance.  After that we had a sand castle contest.  As you can tell from the picture, Pranav makes a great mermaid, or is it merman?? The students are enjoying some free time on the beach right now, and I believe several of them have gotten up close and personal with the jelly fish.

After about 21 hours on the bus, we have finally arrived at Laguna Beach Christian Resorts. It is a beautiful place. The guys have an outstanding veiw of the ocean from the front porch. After our arrival, we had supper and went to our first worship service. The speaker had some great things to say about how Christ views us. Our students are divided up among about 250 other students for small groups. After they met, we had our church time on the beach. Waves were crashing, Todd was playing, and there was lightning off to the east. Jase challenged our students with a great message in that setting. Then they got to spend some time alone with God. The picture with this post is our church time on the beach. We will have a full day tomorrow that I think will include a sand castle building contest.
