Village of Huertona

Wow! What a great afternoon and evening we had in Huertona. I have so much to tell!

The children are absolutely beautiful! We have learned that no matter what language you speak, smiles and laughter are universal! We made balloon animals for the children and they just loved them.

The leader of the village, Regenaldo, showed us the village's goat and ag projects. He is very proud of the work that has been done. They raise goats to provide milk for the families. The goats are in a pen above the ground so their manure can be collected for fertilizer for their farming. The land they farm on is a very steep hill so they have learned how to plant hedgerows and terrace the land. This is my third trip to Honduras since 2003 and it is the most progressive farming I have seen in a village. They can provide food for their family!

We helped lead a worship service in the school in the evening. We sang some songs in English and the children sang some songs to us in Spanish. Micah gave his testimony and some of the men, including a teenage boy, gave their testimonies. Jase told the story of David and Goliath and encouraged all of us that we can defeat any giant in our life if we depend on God and know that our strength comes from Him. We showed the Jesus film with the help of a generator. The village has no electricity.

The school was packed - Jase counted over 80 people inside this small building - people were sitting on small benches and standing. The ones who couldn't fit inside the building, stood outside and looked through the windows. At home, would we sit on uncomfortable benches or stand for hours for a church service and not even know the ending time? We have so much to learn about true worship!

The students are just doing an awesome job. They are true servants and never hestitate when anything is needed. They never complain even about sleeping on a concrete floor and roosters crowing from 3:00 am on - Jase did mention wanting to make chicken soup around 4:00 am!

The scenery, as you can tell from the pictures, is just incredible! We serve a mighty God and He created such a beautiful world for us to enjoy.

Please continue to pray for the team. We are leaving this afternoon for another village. I have added pictures to the slide show and will add more tomorrow. Blessings to each of you!

I looked as the pictures through an ocean of tears. What precious children! God is not only blessing you and those you touch, He is blessing me, too! I pray that your day is more than we can fathom. Micah--did you give that testimony in Spanish?? Jase and Todd, I have been through every file in your offices (yes, that's plural!) I finally found what I was looking for---the list of information Stan left for planning worship. Good thing Marci was around to help! We love you guys and pray all day!!!

Hey, gang! What awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing! This is so much neater than waiting until you return. It almost makes me feel like I am with you...well, except for the latrine:0) Stay safe and healthy and when you get back we want to see ALL your pictures!

Luke 24:45 - I feel like through all of you Christ is opening the minds of the villagers so they can understand the Scriptures!

Our prayers are with you!

It is so good to see the pictures and to get to share in your adventure! The scenery is beautiful! I know that pictures can never truly capture the beauty in the photograph, so it must be absolutely gorgeous! You are right our God has blessed us with a beautiful world. I think someone needs to grab the picture and get Tami's picture! We need to see her also.
We are continuing to pray for each of you and the villagers you have worshipped with and the ones you will minister to throughout the week.
I agree with Trish, this is better than having to wait until you get home to find out anything about your week, or see pictures of where you have been. It does bring you just a little closer to us. Thank you Tami for taking the time to update the blog!
We miss all of you and are proud of each of you for your sacrifice to share God's word! Todd and Whitney... I love you both and miss you very much!

It is so exciting to see the country side where you are traveling, the adults and children in the villages, and the work that you are doing there. I, like Kelley, opened the blog to the picture of Lee holding that little boy, and was overcome. This mission trip is amazing, even from Seminole. I can feel God working through your efforts and our prayers!

To everyone, we love you and are praying for you.
To Tami, thank you-thank you for the daily posts. It really makes us your "extended mission team". To Lee, the whole family is keeping up with you via the blog and praying for you as well.

We love you and miss you very much!
